Belief in the Bible or any supernatural force intervening in human affairs suppresses, limits, reduces, puts it sleep, but not destroy our intellectual capacity. Plenty of former believers have seen the light and adhere to the scientific method and reason. Rarely do you see a change in the opposite direction (from scientific minded to believer in myth)

Did you know WTBTS applied for Holocaust compensation?
by umbertoecho indid you know that the wtbts applied for these compensation funds?
i had no idea and if this has already been addressed then so be it.
i find it interesting due to the fact that so much is made of the jws being in camps during ww2 and nothing else is expressed about the other millions who died in these camps.

Well, c'mon, the Watchtower deserved compensation, they suffered losses. During the time the German JW's were in concentration camps the attendance to meetings and donations were next to nothing, or probably nothing.Losses likely into the millions.
Also, all the JW's from the Allied Forces that sacrificed their lives/livelihood to save their brothers in Germany reduced the income of the Watchtower... wait, JW's don't lift a finger to save themselves, someone else has to do it...OK, OK,... but my previous paragraph still has some merit.

People should learn more about the Bible flaws
by opusdei1972 ini have noted that the main problem for those who are seduced by the watchtower society is their ignorance about the bible itself.
people who believe that the bible is the word of god usually ignore the studies on textual criticism and how scientific criteria forbid absurd stories like that of the global flood.
so, i strongly believe that students in schools need at least an obligatory course on "the bible" through the point of view of science and the textual criticism.

What's the big deal about answering your questions in public. There's noting personal about you. A violation of privacy, maybe, but a great public service, especially for those who don't know the culture at Bethel. This mild violation is well worth the results.

The meaning is along the lines of WT's deception-without-lying modus operandi.
Publisher are not really volunteers. Would you call someone a volunteer when he/she believes that not doing something means eternal death. JW's are subject to duress, to emotional coercion. Who would volunteer for the preaching if there were not threats of destruction?

I HAVE SEARCHED FOR A WATCHTOWER THAT CONTAINS ADVICE TO VICTIMS OF PEDOPHILES ALONG THE LINES OF "FORGIVE AND FORGET" THE PEDOPHILE.
I HAVE READ IT BEFORE. I KNOW IT'S IN MY HARD DRIVE, BUT I DON'T HAVE TIME TO LOOK FOR IT.

1993 AWAKE on Child Abuse
by The_Doctor10 in10/8/93 awake article about child abuse misconceptions, checkout the second misconception: children fantasize or lie about abuse.. this article notes how it's extremely unlikely that children lie in cases of abuse (95% in some estimates are truthful) and how even among the ones who lie it's usually when they make a claim (in truth) but then subsequently lie and say it didn't happen, when in actuality, it did.. given this knowledge, why the two witness rule?

Very good find. I know there's another watchtower that assert the opposite. This other Watchtower is the one that change my views on the WT and child abuse. The highlight of this other watchtower essentially is that the abused should forgive the abuser, kiss, hug and forget about the whole thing.
